Limited bathing operations on Saturday, June 10, 2023 - More than 200 participants registered

The Wöhrsee has been the scene of numerous open water championships in summer and winter since the mid-90s. This weekend too: on Saturday, June 10th, the Bavarian Cup and the International Bavarian Championships will take place. A total of around 240 participants from 47 clubs from all over Germany and even from Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain have registered.

Bathing operations are therefore only possible to a limited extent on Saturday. Swimming is possible from the boat hall to the large jetty, the area behind is closed for competitions. Boat rental is not possible on this day. The sunbathing lawn is also only open up to the level of the Großer Steg, and the beach volleyball courts are also closed. However, the playground remains accessible. The event ends around 15:30 p.m., after which the event will be dismantled as quickly as possible, making the entire Wöhrsee accessible to visitors again.

“Burghausen is a sports town and open water swimming has a long tradition in Burghausen. I am delighted that the Bavarian Championships in open water swimming are taking place here at Wöhrsee again. I'll definitely stop by at the competitions," said Mayor Florian Schneider. Spectators are of course welcome.

The organizer of the championships is SV Wacker. The Serwus e. V. supports with the construction and organization, the Burghausen water rescue service ensures safety on the day of the competition. "Without the help of Serwus and the water rescue service, we could not hold such a large event. Thank you very much for the support,” emphasized Stefan Hetzer, SV Wacker head coach, and Volker Mucks, head of the swimmers.
