The city of Burghausen has been home to a university since 2016. The Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of courses on the Burghausen campus. Under the motto “Study where the chemistry is right”, there are courses on the Burghausen campus that are tailored both to the needs of international corporations on site and to professional prospects far beyond the region. The Burghausen campus is considered the most important educational institution in south-eastern Upper Bavaria.

Centrally located in the Bavarian chemical triangle, students at the Burghausen campus will find a range of courses on offer in chemical engineering, business administration, chemtronics, environmental technology, hydrogen technology and circular economy. The extensive range is oriented towards chemistry and process engineering, has a modular design and is interdisciplinary.

A chair for hydrogen technology has also been established at the Burghausen campus since October 2021. In cooperation with the University of Erlangen, it is intended to give students the opportunity to supervise advanced research projects on the subject of hydrogen and to complete aspired doctorates.

Since 2021, the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences has been operating the Burghausen / ChemDelta Bavaria hydrogen real laboratory at the Burghausen site in cooperation with international corporations on site and various organizations and initiatives to enable entry into the hydrogen economy.

In the medium term, the Burghausen campus aims to accommodate 700 students, and even up to 1.000 in the long term. In 2021, the university had around 350 students.

In addition to the existing teaching facilities, a new campus laboratory building will complement the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences in Burghausen.
