The chemical triangle in south-eastern Bavaria is a key region for the chemical industry between Trostberg, Burghausen and Töging. Numerous companies from the chemical-pharmaceutical industry are located in the region, employing more than 25.000 women and men.

The trigger for the formation of the Bavarian chemical triangle more than 100 years ago was the region itself: It offered ideal conditions for building up electrochemical production with the help of hydroelectric power. At the beginning of the 20th century, the companies located there produced, among other things, calcium carbide.

Today, the chemical triangle in south-east Bavaria is an industrial region in which thousands of different products are produced. The companies of ChemDelta Bavaria are continuously growing together, networking and jointly operating a network system.

In order to withstand international competition, the chemical industry companies based in the region have joined forces in the ChemDelta Bavaria initiative. In this way, they want to bundle their interests and assert them against politicians and the public. At the same time, the companies want to increase their competitiveness with this initiative and secure the economic future of the people in the region in the long term.

"The chemical industry in Southeast Bavaria is facing major challenges in connection with the energy transition: the entire energy and raw material supply must be put on a new footing! For our bright minds, this holds exciting scientific and technical questions. Research and development are the key to a sustainable industrial revolution. With the support of politicians, we will be able to do this here in the region with around 20.000 direct employees in the industry and the companies organized in ChemDelta Bavaria!”

Peter von Zumbusch, Chairman of the ChemDelta Bavaria Steering Committee and Plant Manager of the Burghausen site of Wacker Chemie AG
