For the first time in almost three years, the city of Burghausen celebrated a New Citizens' Festival. A festival that the city was the only one in the district to fill with life again even after the pandemic. Burghausen has grown and has more residents than ever before: 19.293 people are registered as having their main residence in Burghausen (previous year: 18.795). So it's no wonder that the Haus der Familie, as the organizer of the 2022 New Citizens' Festival, had more than 3.000 new citizens on the invitation list. Everyone was invited by mail. More than 500 new fellow citizens came to the community center on Saturday, November 19.11.2022th, XNUMX. "I think Burghausen said hello properly. It was a great event that was perfectly organized,” First Mayor Florian Schneider sums up.

The mayor welcomed the people who came to us from Feichten or Mumbai, from Marktl or the Ukraine. The city's integration advisory board also introduced itself and called on the new residents to get involved, work together and help shape Burghausen. "This city is a very liveable place full of peace and togetherness," says Izabella Incze, Dr. According to the International Club, Iman Ayyad, Ivana Zelic and Haifa Ragab, who together speak eight languages, are on hand to help the "Zuagroasten".

The Alias Improtheater led through the entertaining program with Peter Soldner on the piano and bridged language barriers with great acting and the art of improvisation.

The deputy mayor Norbert Stranzinger and the third mayor Stefan Angstl as well as some city councilors also came to talk to the “newcomers” personally at the large buffet that followed.

During the entire New Citizens' Festival, buses with tour guides drove through the city again and again and during a short city tour they covered the arc from industry to history. Around 350 new residents have taken advantage of the bus service.

“Burghausen presented itself excellently: cosmopolitan, curious and friendly. I would move here if I wasn't already here," concludes Mayor Florian Schneider, looking forward to the next New Citizens' Festival. The next New Citizens' Festival will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

"Nice to have you here. Put down roots here so that Burghausen can flourish!”
