The Aventinus-Gymnasium in Burghauser Neustadt is a scientific, technological and economics grammar school with a language profile.

The grammar school is named after the historian and "father of Bavarian historiography" Aventinus, who lived around 1500 and introduced a science based on verifiable sources.

The Aventinus-Gymnasium has a comprehensive mission statement and school profile. The school wants to promote general education, basic scientific knowledge and communication through foreign languages. Extended range of courses

sports class
The Aventinus-Gymnasium offers a sports class – one for each grade five to eleven. In cooperation with trainers from SV Wacker and TV 1868, the students in the sports classes are offered more sports lessons with a large selection of sports.

introductory classes
Pupils with a middle school certificate (Realschule M-branch of middle school, business school) who want to take the Abitur can attend an introductory class at the Aventinus-Gymnasium. In these introductory classes, they are prepared for the upper secondary school. After passing the introductory class, the students can attend the eleventh grade.

student exchange
The Aventinus-Gymnasium maintains a lively student exchange program with Fumel, Ptuj and Hohenstein-Ernstthal, three of Burghausen's twin towns. The school also regularly organizes student exchanges with Alexandria in Egypt and Dexter in the USA.
