The City Council leaves certain areas of responsibility to the committees. The committees serve to discuss the subject areas assigned to them in advance and to propose resolutions to the city council. In some cases, the committees can also pass resolutions themselves. That depends on whether they only have advisory powers or also decision-making powers.
The members of the committees are chosen from among the members of the City Council. The relationship between the parties in the city council must also be reflected in the relationship between the members of the committees. The mayor or one of his representatives is the chairman of the committees, with the exception of the audit committee.
The main and building committees meet regularly on the first Wednesday of the month. The works committee only meets when necessary, the holiday committee only in August.
