dr Zimmer and Dr. Prantl in conversation in the Red Salon © Stadt Burghausen

Since 2016, the city of Burghausen has held regular lectures and cultural events in the Red Salon of the Raitenhaslach Monastery. The fascinating ambience of the former monastery is a place of peace and science and offers the ideal environment for hours of reflection.

With its Sunday matinees in the red salon, the city of Burghausen is picking up on a centuries-old social tradition - salon talks.

At the invitation of the city of Burghausen, personalities from a wide variety of subject areas prepare their thoughts on current topics or the effects of past developments or trends and let the audience participate.

In recent years, the city of Burghausen has welcomed the Austrian Brigitte Ederer, industrial manager and former politician and EU State Secretary in the Austrian Federal Chancellery, to the Roter Salon.

Julian Nida Rümelin, professor and former Minister of State for Culture, and Heribert Prantl, journalist and former member of the editorial board of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, have already visited the Roter Salon. The professor of general literature and Romance philology, Barbara Vinken, and author, speaker and journalist Dirk von Gehlen have also enriched the series of events.
