High-ranking politicians and church representatives, world-famous musicians, athletes and ducal families, unique artists - over the decades, well-known names and greats have repeatedly found their way to the city of Burghausen. The reasons for the prominent visits were of an impressive variety.

Of course, the best in their field were lured to Burghausen for the Burghausen International Jazz Week: from Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, to Ron Carter, Count Basie and many more, everyone played in Burghausen and impressed their audience. The big names of the jazz scene, who demonstrated their skills in Burghausen, are in the street of fame immortalized in the pits of Burghausen's old town.

The number of high-ranking politicians who came to Burghausen for a wide variety of events is remarkable: For example, the former Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer opened the Academy Center of the Technical University of Munich in Raitenhaslach in June 2016. The State Garden Show, which Burghausen hosted in 2004, opened the then Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber.

In June 2015, the then Bavarian Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann, was delighted at the large number of participants at the opening of the state gymnastics festival in Burghausen. The Dürnitz Forum, a top-class political think tank that took place in Burghausen in der Dürnitz auf der Burg from 1988 to 2009, was opened by political heavyweights such as Franz-Josef Strauss (1988, former Federal Minister for Special Tasks, Nuclear Questions, Defense and Finance, Bavarian Prime Minister), Hans-Dietrich Genscher (1990, former Federal Foreign Minister) or Bert Rürup (2005, Chairman of the Advisory Council).

Several Federal Presidents - for example Richard von Weizäcker and Johannes Rau - also visited the city of Burghausen. The former President of the Bundestag, Norbert Lammert, paid a visit to the Aventinus-Gymnasium in Burghausen in November 2014.

A high point in the sporting history of the city of Burghausen was a DfB cup game by SV Wacker Burghausen: In August 2007, record champions FC Bayern Munich traveled to Burghausen for this. The "Albatross" also combined a trip with a stop in Burghausen: Germany's former swimming star Michael Gross was Burghausen's guest of honor in October 1982.

In 2022, Alexandra Burghardt signed the golden book of the city of Burghausen as a silver medalist at the Olympic Games in Beijing in two-man bobsleigh. The special thing about it: Burghardt starts for SV Wacker Burghausen.
