More disabled parking spaces for the May Oktoberfest

A total of six parking spaces for people with disabilities will be created at the fire department

The Burghausen city public order office has designated 100 percent more parking spaces for people with disabilities in the immediate vicinity of the Mai Wies festival grounds. In consultation with the Burghausen fire department, Martin Hinterwinkler, head of the public order office, decided that six instead of three parking spaces would be reserved for people with disabilities. “It is very important to the city of Burghausen to provide sufficient parking space for people with limited mobility. In Burghausen we have 71 disabled parking spaces in the city area plus two in Raitenhaslach. We have now created six additional ones for the May Oktoberfest,” explains Martin Hinterwinkler. The mobility officer for the city of Burghausen knows that the need is great: “And we take that into account.”

In addition, the Burghauser City Bus is barrier-free, so that people in wheelchairs can use “Park & Ride” or the Burghauser can travel without their own vehicle. There are also three disabled parking spaces in the underground car park on Marktler Straße near the community center, which are also in the immediate vicinity of the festival site. “This means we have nine disabled parking spaces directly on the Mai Wies grounds. “Nevertheless, we hope that visitors from outside will also use public transport and travel sustainably by bus,” says First Mayor Florian Schneider.

The Burghauser 2023-euro ticket has been available since May 9, with which you can use public transport (city bus and on-call bus) in Burghausen for a month. The 9 euro ticket was very well received, meaning that the use of public transport in Burghausen was increased dramatically. All information and prices at www.burghausen.de

The city bus runs extra long again for the May Oktoberfest. There are also buses from Burgkirchen, Kirchweidach and Hirten, visitors from Emmerting and Mehring can also come by bus and Stammham, Marktl and Haiming are also connected. All information at www.burghausen.de

“We are looking forward to a peaceful May Oktoberfest with many visitors from the surrounding area,” says First Mayor Florian Schneider.

The barrier-free city bus can be used free of charge on Saturday and Sunday.
