The longest castle in Europe (1043 metres)
Castle tours:
The walls, pinnacles and towers seem to extend forever over the narrow spit of land here at Europe's longest castle (1,043 m).
From atop the fortress you get a view of the old town with its magnificent rows of houses and alleyways reminiscent of southern Europe.
Beyond Lake Wöhrsee is a picturesque landscape surrounded by the Salzach and the densely forested foothills of the Alps.
Public tours for individuals, families and small groups are available from Easter until October on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The meeting point is the Curaplatz right in front of the castle. Price is EURO 3.50 per person.
Tickets are available in the Dr. Robert Gerlich Museum, Burg 1 (on Curaplatz), at the tourist information office on the Stadtplatz as well as in the Bürgerhaus (community centre) on Marktler Str. 15a.
Tours through the outer sections of the castle are possible for small groups all year round. It is recommended that you reserve well in advance. | Starting at the Finanzamt (tax office) parking lot, you will walk through Mautner Str., the Burghausen Grüben – a pedestrian zone including the craftsman's mile – and see the city's history in the streets around the Stadtplatz. Tours through the Burghausen old town last 90 minutes. |

| Starting on the Löwen Brunnen (fountain) in front of the Rathaus (town hall), you will stroll around the Stadtplatz to the Kurfürst Maximilian Gymnasium (high school) to learn about the interesting history of the city. Tours through the Burghausen old town last 60 minutes. |

Please note:
- The maximum group size is 25 people.
- Each additional person costs EURO 2.00 or EURO 1.50.
- Groups between 30 and 35 people should hire a second tour guide.
- To give us the opportunity to best prepare for the tour you wish to take, we recommend that you please reserve in advance.
- The meeting point for the castle tours is the Curaplatz in front of the castle entrance.
- The meeting point for the old town tours is the Finanzamt parking lot across from the former border crossing.
- The meeting point for the short old town tour is the Löwen Brunnen (fountain) in front of the town hall.
- For tours in English, Italian, Russian and French there is an additional charge of EURO 5.00.
- If you think you are not going to arrive on time for the start of the tour, please inform the tourist information office or the tour guide an hour in advance. Otherwise, the guides will be at the meeting point 20 minutes before the tour begins.
No-shows are subject to a cancellation fee of EURO 25.00.
